Research
GSCSSA Research dollars go to fund a broad range of projects related to grass seed production in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. These projects cover the spectrum from very basic research investigating the molecular mechanisms of flowering and seed production to very applied research that
seeks to define improved production practices.

Research projects are funded following a review process. Following a call for proposals that defines priority areas, researchers in the three states submit a proposal that is peer-reviewed by the GSCSSA Technical Advisory Committee, as well as by two reviewers outside the program. The proposals also are reviewed by the Industry Advisory Committee. The two advisory committees first meet separately, then jointly, to develop a prioritized list of projects to fund for the coming fiscal year. The Administrative Advisory Committee then meets to act on those recommendations, to identify priority projects and set funding levels.

For more information about the types of projects that have been funded to date, browse through the Progress Reports that were prepared based on the results of previous years' funding
